We developed a dynamic global community that allows members to subscribe to a peer network of IP executives in similarly situated operating companies to explore defensive strategies against non-practicing entities (NPEs). This community has a unique privacy model that provides participants the choice of hiding or revealing their identity. This site includes discussions, blogs, tagging, comments, document management and rating system functions in addition to being the world’s largest source of consolidated NPE information.

We developed a social networking site targeting the ultimate college fan. This newly launched site is the brain-child of ESPN’s original founder, Bill Rasmussen, and promotes the network effect of the web through such features as YouTube and flickr integration for video and photo multi-media management. It also has extensive Web 2.0 functionality such as blogging, tagging, discussions, wiki supported documents, RSS feeds and handlers as well as support for widgets.

We redesigned and built Oppenheimer Capital’s entire web presence and content management system using Microsoft’s new Share Point Server 2007. Unlike most intranet Share Point deployments, this is an external customer facing application that will streamline content authoring, workflow approval and publication.

We created, deployed and evolved multiple releases of a market analytics platform designed for the proprietary trading desk of a major global investment bank. It uses rich internet application technology to support sophisticated charting and statistical analysis. Achieving the high service levels expected of a trading application, the platform combines time-series data, proprietary models, reference data and analytic tools from multiple real-time data feeds and across several back-end applications.

We performed a comprehensive examination of the global hedge fund environment to understand what elements would be required to establish technical delivery platform that spans front, middle and back office functions. The goal of this project was to understand the different needs across hedge fund segments to target a comprehensive solution. In addition, we also produced a highly qualified set of opportunities, revenue growth and market share projections for each, and a roadmap to help evolve our client’s core platform.

We developed a cost effective web-based stringer scheduling application to automate their stringer scheduling process, enabling 75 statistical stringers across 120 games a day for 15 minor leagues. Using open source technologies, we designed and developed a custom, cost effective application that seamlessly integrated with their Avaya call center in a rapid timeframe to meet the start of the season.

We designed a bank-wide opportunity and fee model to capture and assess Equities research contribution to the firm’s overall revenues and designed a set of worksheets and templates to help the bank assess how their clients’ demands for content delivery were changing. The model looked across trading, prime brokerage and asset servicing to understand the impact of the existing research product and the worksheets/templates focused on aspects of client use that would help the bank evolve their offering to sustain their market-leading rank.

We reengineered and developed the bank’s whole loan trading systems. Using a combination of .Net and Java, we transformed their business from a technology constrained model to a highly flexible growth oriented model through the use of a service oriented architecture, improved scalability of systems, and new technologies for delivery.  The new architecture and services allows the institution to buy, sell, and manage a greater number of assets on all of their mortgage backed securities.

We specified and built the first generation of a startup’s intellectual property web-based research platform with our off-shore partner. The hybrid closed and open source solution allows users to conduct complex searches across millions of patent documents, analysis patent collections with proprietary algorithms, and a dashboard for tracking and analyzing their patent portfolio.

We conducted a proof of concept to determine the reduction in development time and resources by using a declarative XML standards based development and deployment platform based on the LAMP stack. We developed functionality of an existing J2EE application and compared project resources required with the original project. Our findings determined, for certain applications, the client could reduce development time by 60+% over J2EE development.

Using state of the art Avaya 8710 communication manager and application enablement services OpenCrowd has developed a real time monitoring solution for one of the web’s largest media streaming sites. This new broadcast monitoring application will drastically improve the quality of service of streaming media over VOIP and their response to disrupted events. This new solution is anticipated to have a ROI of less than six months.

We build out a customized community targeted at athletes looking to improve by using Core Performance’s personalized online workout and nutrition programs. The challenge was to ensure that the site was compelling enough to draw the user in, and intuitive enough to allow the users to share their stories and engage in the community. We implemented a customized solution on the Jive Clearspace Community platform that enabled the users to easily have discussions, share documents, answer questions, create social groups and stay current through RSS feeds and notifications.

Starting with a basic conceptual idea, we rapidly built out a community for surgical fellows. In addition to the standard on-line community functions such as discussions, blogs, etc. this site has some very custom industry specific functionality that allows for quick entry, tracking and compensation of surgical procedures. In a short span of less than 8 weeks, we helped strategize, visualize and build out the solution to meet the unique requirements of the service offering.
