Strategic Business Consulting Lead

This individual will work directly with the head of Strategic Services to define the set of OpenCrowd offerings, create differentiated sales materials, support sales calls, lead client engagements and work to help build out the Strategic Services team. Individuals interested in the position should have familiarity with the following:

  • Equities, Fixed Income & FX--Front, Middle & Back Office Services including Research, Trading & Execution, Trade Processing, Margin & Risk, Financing & Lending, Collateral Management & Custody/Asset Services
  • Primary Research & Competitive Analysis Techniques
  • Opportunity Identification, Prioritization & Evaluation Techniques
  • Market Sizing, Revenue Forecasting & Business Case Formulation

A basic understanding of OTC & Exchange-Traded-Derivatives would also be viewed as highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the head of Strategic Services to define OpenCrowd's methodology & toolkit
  • Perform Primary Research, Competitive Analysis and Peer Benchmarking to understand best practices and market leading Financial Service innovations, particularly in regard to the practical applications of emerging technologies
  • Support formulation of thought-leading points of view based on research and analysis to guide client's thinking about the future for Financial Services companies
  • Socialize thought-leadership across a broad client community to build consensus and identify specific opportunities to engage OpenCrowd services
  • Lead client engagements and supervise more junior resources

Qualifications:

  • Entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to work to build up a new business offering
  • Core understanding of capital markets and financial instruments
  • 5+ years consulting and/or business analyst experience
  • 5+ years experience working with or in Financial Services firms
  • Ability to learn quickly, grasp business issues, and work with users in a highly dynamic environment
  • Proven track record of delivery

Business Analyst

Business Analyst will be responsible for development of system functional and data specifications as well as helping assure delivery according to those specifications. Their responsibilities differ depending on the phase of the engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the project lead to develop functional specifications for onshore/offshore development team
  • Analyze data feed elements and create mappings of external data to system data
  • Work with on-shore/off-shore development team and QA team to assure specifications are understood
  • Resolve requirements issues raised by development team and users
  • Check builds during the development cycle for functional quality and report issues to development team
  • Liaise with key users to gather requirements
  • Assist with project leads and key users to create candidate scope for future releases

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years creating detailed functional specifications for complex applications
  • Ability to learn quickly, grasp business issues, and work with users in a highly dynamic environment
  • Detailed oriented and a dedication to producing high quality deliverables
  • Financial services experience in a trading environment
  • Experience investigating data issues with external feeds including using sql to dig into details of data issues

Strategy Business Analyst

Business Analyst will be responsible for working with senior strategists in defining user needs, examining the competitive environment, formulating differentiated market-entry strategies and developing business cases and action plans. As engagements mature, the analyst will also be responsible for translating business requirements into functional specifications and working with the technology team to plan the build of new applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the strategic lead to extract user needs through interviews, questionnaires and workshops
  • Perform research, competitive analysis and peer benchmarking to understand best practices and market leading innovations
  • Analyze user needs, research and competitive/peer findings to formulate user profiles and a detailed set of future-state needs
  • Envision how delivery of existing services will change due to market forces and emerging technologies, in particular Web 2.0
  • Define potential new offerings and assess these offerings against a strategic framework to identify those most suited for the client
  • Create market sizing projections for targeted offerings and build out revenue models to understand the scope of new opportunities
  • Work with design and technology resources on defining the functional scope of new offerings
  • Supervise the build out of prototypes to ensure their adherence to the perceived user needs
  • Test prototypes with the target audience to evaluate how well projected offerings align to their stated desires

Qualifications:

  • Core understanding of capital markets and financial instruments

Business Analyst with Capital Market Experience

Business Analyst will be responsible for development of system functional and data specifications as well as helping assure delivery according to those specifications. Their responsibilities differ depending on the phase of the engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to UI screen design mockup and create functional specifications
  • Work with on-shore/off-shore development team and QA team to assure specifications are understood
  • Resolve requirements issues raised by development team and users

  • Liaise with key users to gather requirements
  • Assist with project leads and key users to create candidate scope for future releases

Senior Developer

Senior Developer is a key team member of the development team. This person will be responsible for a portion of the overall system solution including design and implementation tasks. Their responsibilities differ depending on the phase of the engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Project Manager and the Application Architect to lead part of a project
  • Support the architect in technical decisions
  • Builds software components that comply with the application architecture and detailed design
  • Write detailed level technical requirements/specifications and technical documentation for project team and client

Qualifications:

  • 2 to 4 years experience developing database-driven, web applications in Java or Flex. Knowledge of PHP/Python and/or ActionScript a plus
  • Strong Object Oriented Design and experience developing high-performance systems and web sites (caching, performance, messaging, serialization, etc)
  • Hands on experience in open source technologies like JBoss, Apache HTTPD, Tomcat, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Axis, etc and developing applications in a J2EE environment
  • Experience in open source web development frameworks like Struts, Hibernate and Spring
  • Knowledge of RDBMS, database design and performing data extractions, conversions and manipulations. Worked with at least one of the following: Oracle, Sybase, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas and technical decisions

Technical Lead

Technical Leads are a key leader member of the project team. This person will be responsible for overall system solution including working with developers in designing parts of the system, leading investigation of new technologies in the solution design and mentoring developers both on- and off-shore. Their responsibilities differ depending on the phase of the engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Project Manager to create project estimates and a project plan
  • Providing insight into complexity of business features, user interface design and create solutions that reduce technical complexity while maximizing business and user benefits
  • Guiding and leading technologists to create the system and detailed technical design
  • Investigating new technologies and guiding developers to assist in investigation
  • Assure team uses best practices in design and implementation of the system
  • Review proposed solutions by senior developers and guide them toward an elegant implementation
  • Communicate designs and technical requirements with off-shore technical team and manage implementation of the overall system

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years experience developing database-driven, web applications in Java and RIA technologies
  • Experience creating estimates of implementation as well as project timelines
  • Strong Object Oriented Design and experience developing high-performance systems and web sites (caching, performance, messaging, serialization, etc)
  • Strong understanding of the systems development life cycle and deep understanding of code manipulation and optimization issues
  • Experiencing leading a team of developers and mentoring team members
  • Hands on experience of working on Linux/Unix environments
  • Hands on experience in open source technologies like Apache HTTPD, Tomcat, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc and developing applications in a J2EE environment
  • Experience with open source RIA web development toolkits and frameworks such as Flex, Prototype, Scriptaculous, Dojo, etc.

User Experience Designer

Collaborate with cross-functional teams of Strategists, Technologists, and Project Managers to create effective user-centered online experiences. Draw on expertise in information/interaction design, visual design, usability, and relevant web technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Use your information/interaction design skills to develop and document site structures, navigation flows, wire frames, and mockups
  • Use your creative and visual design skills to develop creative concepts and detailed, visually appealing page designs that will translate into validating, standards compliant table-free documents
  • Create iterative mockups, and prototypes
  • Focus on user needs and optimum user experience
  • Stay current with evolving standards and technologies, learning new skills as needed

Qualifications:

  • Solid information, interaction, and visual design skills
  • Experience creating site architecture diagrams, wire frames, process flows
  • Experience designing for dynamic and template-driven sites
  • Expert Adobe CS skills
  • Willingness to contribute to both large, complex projects and smaller tasks as directed
  • Ability to work quickly and manage multiple projects and timelines
  • Great attitude, strong work ethic, excellent communication skills
  • Creative, yet meticulously detail oriented. Sense of craftsmanship
  • BS/BA required
