Collaboration

OpenCrowd helps organizations implement a mix of leading open and closed source collaboration tools to enable our clients to work more effectively.

Challenges

Over the last several years, increased demands have been placed on enterprises which require them to collaborate in more efficient manner. These demands are not only being driven by the increased usage of outsourced and off-shore partners, but also due to the faster paced, more dynamic environment required to succeed in today's business climate.

However, use of older techniques of collaboration limits organizations from effectively communicating with each other as well as sharing their knowledge across team members. Email has become the primary tool for communication, file transfer and storage but these techniques are not always the most effective methods for sharing and managing information across a team. Existing portals and content management systems are built to provide information to employees, but the work flow to create and share this content is normally limited to a small number of users which decreases its effectiveness as a primary collaboration tool. In addition, there is a significant amount of tacit information produced during work sessions that is not collected these tools. The lack of context, inability to log work session information, inadequate file sharing, and editing capabilities makes the current environment sub-optimal.

What we offer

Our collaboration service helps organizations capture the information they need, expose this information to the required resources and connect people in more dynamic ways than existing standalone applications provide today. The genesis for this collaboration was born out of the open source community.

Collaboration tools created by the open source community were purpose built to tackle collaboration issues that organizations face today. Along with the tools, communities have created guidelines and best practices that enforce the culture of collaboration and empower users to share their unique knowledge with others in the community. Our collaboration service offering use some of these best practices and tools to help our client teams collaborate in an effective manner. These tools and techniques can be used by both business and IT teams.

Our collaboration service helps our clients:

  • Identify candidate processes that can benefit most from collaboration techniques
  • Gather collaboration environment requirements across teams that will satisfy the needs of multiple teams and be aligned with the current infrastructure
  • Create effective collaboration workspaces by providing best practices, creating achievable goals and incentive structures to define the new environment.
  • Deploy an integrated environment using proven and mature open source technologies such as Wikis, Content Management Systems, Portals, Blogs, Document Management and Instant Messaging that provide presence based collaboration
