  • Open Source Initiative (OSI) ratifies all open source licenses and maintains the inventory of all approved licenses
  • Open Source Development Lab (OSDL), the home of Linux's founder Linus Torvalds, promotes the adoption of Linux and fosters the Linux development community
  • SourceForge.net is the largest repository for open source projects and provides resources to foster open source projects
  • The GNU project supplies many of the tools included in Linux distributions and is an effort of the Free Software Foundation
  • The Apache Software Foundation provides support for a large number of open source projects including widely projects such as Apache Web Server, Tomcat, Struts, and Ant among others
