Challenges
While open source products have proliferated in IT infrastructures over the last several years, finding and selecting the most appropriate product has some unique challenges. In addition to performing technical and functional evaluations, open source products also need to be evaluated by a unique set of criteria, such as the viability of the community, resources available through the community, and the backing of the project. Concerns around product licensing and support also need to be addressed during product evaluations.
